When I lost Chloe I made up a little box and put in her food bowl and collar and a book with photos in - it was upsetting but now I can open it and have fond wonderful loving memories of her. Your pet gives you their heart and you in turn give yours so when gone it is a bereavement. Things will get easier for you. Take care. Ruth

| | Date: | Mon 16 Nov 2009 19:45:18 GMT | | Subject: | Millie | | | Sasha a message of hope for you as I lost my best friend Jake 4 months ago and he was the life and soul of my home. Yes I do still miss him desparetly and deeply and yes I do still think about him all of the time and yes I do still cry at the slightest thing and sometimes without no reason but last night I had a full nights sleep which was the first since my poor boy had gone. I thinkthe saying of time is a healer is right in a way in that you can and do get back to your normal day to day life and even though the dark nights are long and never ending I think it is starting to get a bit better. That doesnt mean you forget or miss your pet but each day one at a time we will get there together. Remember all suffering and pain has gone, you were very brave you made the decision and that was not the decision for you and what ou wanted but the decision you had to make. Wake up tomorrow and start a new day, wake up the next day and start a new day - don't forget but let peace come into your life and enjoy the many happy memories that you have | | | | | |

| | Date: | Sun 25 Oct 2009 21:11:25 GMT | | Subject: | My Millie | | | Hello Russell, Thank you, so much for your kind words - and for the other kind messages that have been left for me. I am taking one day at a time, some days are better than others but the hardest is that first moment when you wake up and everything is okay and then you are properly awake and it's not - my home just feels so very empty and the soul has gone out of it. A tribute page is a very nice idea as the only people who really truly know how you feel are people who are animal lovers and owners. It is like losing part of yourself. I would also say that (if you do decide to do the page) something with some practical advice would be good as everything came as a shock to me and I didn't know which way to turn and what to do, with Millie. Fortunately I had a very good vet who kept Millie over night whilst I could think (or try) on what to do. I decided against burying her in the garden because if I moved what would happen to her - in the end Millie was cremated and I picked up her ashes and took them to Holkham beach and scattered when the sun was going down - it was a place that we went to many times (the first time Millie was in drink-water heaven and drank gallons of the sea - only for it all to come out, both ends, within seconds!) she didn't learn the first time though. But we have wonderful memories there and I truly hope I did the right thing - still think maybe not but at the time I couldn't really think properly. I know people don't want to think of these things now but if you had a page about it then it would at least get into their sub concious. I would urge anyone to plan what they would do. Coming back from the vets with just Millie's collar when I left home to take her to be made well, is shocking and allher toys and bed and food, awful. I know, lots have been through the same but when it is yourself and your pet is your best friend and family, it is truly truly sad. Anyway, sorry for rambling on so much, thank you again. Having gone through myself just 1 year ago, the things that would have helped me then are think now about what you would like to do with your loved one - do you want the vet to take care of, do you want to take the body home, do you want the ashes - simple things i had no idea of when the time came as had not thoght about it and now after all this time dont know if made the right choice Thinking of you sasha | | | | | |

This is Russell from Chocolate Labs (Monte and Denvers dad)
I’m a little stuck for words ! having just read your message in the Forum, I’m so very sorry to hear of the sad loss of Millie, especially at such a young age, I can't begin immagine how you must be feeling.
Perhaps we should have a memorium page on the site, for all the very much loved Labs, that have left their owners with such fond memories, “What do you think”?
Take very good care….
Russell

| | Date: | Thu 15 Oct 2009 21:24:20 BST | | Subject: | My Millie | | | Sadly my Millie has died - I am so very very sad - this web site has seen me through all the ups and downs - Millie even shared the same birthday as Monte and they always said Happy Birthday and Christmas to each other and both loved the pilchards. She was just too young to die, only 6 and a half but she got cancer and then secondary tumours, lost so much weight and in the end just too miserable that I had to do the best thing for her even though it hurt like hell and still does. Please everyone, love your pets for all the good (and naughty) things - the peeing on the floor, chewing bits of furniture, barking (at nothing), nicking socks out of the laundry bin/washing machine/tumble dryer and running round and round the dining room table after her to get them back - I would have it all back in a second. Our precious animals are not just pets, but our special friends who are there every day and with a bounce and a smile and wagging tail (even if you've only left them in the room for 10 minutes) I really don't know how to go on without my one and only friend - rest in peace Millie and see you at Rainbow Bridge xxx | | | | | |

They are around £70 to £100 per month. We are desperately searching for another home for her, as really don't want to hand her over to a rescue centre, she loves being part of a family. With her medication she is full of life, loves her ball, walks an cuddles. She is fantastic with children of all ages (I am a childminder so she has to put up with a few!) She's great with other dogs too although she will tell them off if they try to get her ball! If there is anyone out there who wants to carefor Twix then please respond. We are having to make a decision this weekend.

| | Date: | Mon 27 Apr 2009 12:56:14 BST | | Subject: | Lab wont go to sleep!!! | | | Hello
We rehomed a black labrador from the dogs trust over the weekend. Hes 5 years old and was a stray from Ireland, thats all we know on his background. Plus hes also a little under weight but we are working on that.
Our problem is that we do not want him to go upstairs at home (we currently use a stair gate), however when we go to bed hes keeping my partner and i awake all night long. It seems that hes either anxious or scared being left on his own and starts to cry. He does have a bit of a kennel cough and this seems to get worse at night-time when hes on his own, this and he doesnt seem to settle and appears to be scratching / itching himself more than he normally does along with panting heavily!
Last night i ended up bringing him upstairs in the middle of the night and letting him sleep on the landing in his bed with our bedroom door open so that he can still see us. Hes fine then and after awhile he began to settle down. He does not appear to need the toilet and has water etc, i have let him go outside but he just sniffed around and did not do anything!
Please can anyone help with this. Im hoping that this is just a time / insecurity thing that will get better in time. The dogs home have said not to take him for walks etc until he gets his next booster injection this Friday and also has his castraion stitches removed, so we are unable to give him the full exercise he needs to wear him out until this coming weekend. We are able to play with him in the garden, although i believe this is not enough for him.
Please help with leaving him alone at night-time!
Thankyou, Dan | | | | | |
