Hi Jay.
Firstly-regarding while you being away on holiday. I think as long as you both follow the same commands and routine as much as possible, then I think he will be fine.
Secondly-regarding your work. I think leaving him at home depends where you live. Labs don't generally like to be on their own for a long time and you have to think of your neighbours(if you have houses close by)as you and your dog will not be popular if your pup barks and howls through the night!!!
If you're allowed to take him to work then I think he'd be fine as nearly all labs love to jump in the car and go for a ride.
