Subject:car problems

I have a chocolate lab That I didn't want to jump in the back of the car as she was heavy at the time, so I bought a small fold up step stool and I taught her to put her front feet on to the back of the car then lift one back foot on to the stool and heave herself up from there. It amused many people and she soon got the idea of how to do it. Now she will do either as she has lost weight, she will jump or step in to the car.

hi, i had the same problem and always had to lift Dug in until he got too big and heavy! I got a dog ramp that has worked wonders - took a few attempts until he got the hang of it - I just would not pick him up and to start with stood there for an age - they are not stupid dogs so got the jist of it, personally I think they like the fuss of being picked up and molly coddled after an age he gingerly went in and now it is the norm no probs- good luck. if your pooch doesn't pick up straight away you will need to be prepared to have time to do it (an look a loon in front of the neighbours!) but perservere

Hi, My lab who is nearly 2 has never jumped into the car, we always have to lift him in and at 37kg like you said is not easy. We blamed oursleves as when labs are young to protect their joints they shouldn't jump around too much so we always lifted him in and out of the car. He quite happily jumps out now. It is a bit of a problem if there is nowhere to walk locally, fortunately we have great walks right on doorstep but it is nice to go somewhere else for a change. Look forward to any comments as would make ours and your life easier.
